Yosemite in winter is a world of its own—quiet, mystical, and absolutely breathtaking. I took this photograph during a solo trip in January 2018, just after a heavy snowfall. The air was cold, the valley was silent, and for a brief moment, the clouds broke just enough for this frame to come alive.
This particular shot was captured at Tunnel View, one of the most iconic overlooks in the park. It’s a reminder that in Yosemite, you don’t always have to trek deep into the backcountry to find a truly powerful composition. Sometimes, nature gives you everything you need just a few steps from the road.
I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph Yosemite 20 times over the years, and it still feels like the altar of heaven every time I return. Number 21 might be calling sooner than I think.
Stay tuned—this month I’m reconnecting my social feeds with the places that have shaped my photography and my life. More to come.
