The Uyani Salt Flats are an amazing & wondrous place in the world. A place where mood and weather can change in minutes, where at one moment the sun is burning your skin and the next the howling wind can chill you to the bone. The open expanse of the place is incredible and can make photographing interesting and surreal. The landscape made of salt from an extinct lagoon bed shines and reflects the sun and sky as majestic beauty is revealed.
As I was photographing the horizon of the blue sky and clouds and reveling in the fact that everything was reflected on the salt floor I looked behind me to see a father with his wife and daughter walking through the very thin sheet of water that covered the flats in this place, left by the recent heavy rains. The image struck me at once and I turned and focused my attention on them as they walked and held hands. Every once in a while one can happen to be at the right place at just the right moment, a time when the magic happens!
