Double Falls at Git Git
Sometimes things work out perfectly even when they are not part of your plans! I was in Bali a couple of weeks ago and had hired a man named Putra to be my driver for 5 days and provide transportation for me to a list of places on the island I wanted to photograph. As most mornings, he arrived to pick me up at 5am and I was waiting for him in the parking lot. We planned to drive out to a temple that is surrounded by water and arranged to get there before sunrise. Everything went perfectly until we got there and the water in the lake was so low that the entire temple stood surrounded by dried mud!
We decided that we would head directly to Git Git Falls about 40 minutes away. We were there so early that no one was awake and there to charge us for parking and I had the entire space to myself for the next 2 hours; free of tourists or any other person I shot the falls from every angle I wanted uninterrupted and in perfect peace.
Bali being a very spiritual place, I was there and watched the old woman that walks down to the falls to give offering to the spirits every morning. An experience and opportunity I would’ve missed if the lake level would have been higher!
